Digia has made a new browser for the UIQ flavor of Symbian, which is fully controllable using the UIQ touch screen. TThe default browser included on UIQ devices is Opera, which is anything but bad. It is very functional, but it has other non touch enabled devices to think about. All modern UIQ handsets have a touch screen, so a browser optimized for an all touch interaction is ideal for these handsets. The browser is ported over from the S60 WebKit browser, according to Digia.
The new browser will be made available this month for select people to download. It is at its 1.0 beta stage, but hopefully will be ready soon. You can view Digia’s press release here. I tried to find an area to sign up for the beta, but it looks like that option has not been made available yet.
