Rogers Wireless today became the first North American carrier to officially pick up the Nokia E71. The 10mm-thick case of Nokia E71 will make it the thinnest smartphone that Rogers ever launched. It should also carry the other features of the high-end device, including its 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi. Storage is handled mostly through microSDHC cards. The Symbian S60 device will be one of Rogers’ few non-Windows Mobile alternatives for Exchange data and has the unique addition of separate personal and work home screens that keep their content separate from each other.
The carrier also heavily subsidized the earlier device and is likely to do the same for the E71, which otherwise costs about $500 in the US as an unlocked model.
