The Dare is the second LG touchscreen phone at the US carrier but relies exclusively on its touch input rather than offering a hardware keyboard; a stylus is bundled with the Dare for finer-grained input as well as handwriting recognition that helps with southeast Asian languages. It also represents a camera upgrade with a 3.2-megapixel sensor (up from 2.0) with better low-light handling and on-phone editing similar to the Viewty and other Europe-only phones. Timing now has the Dare launch at near the same time as the iPhone 3G with a ship date sometime in July; Verizon is short on specific details and expects to release pricing closer to the actual launch date.

The launch also includes the Chocolate 3, is the latest version of LG’s music phone series and switches to a clamshell design while keeping the jogwheel for selecting tracks; it also has stereo speakers for audio without headphones and carries 1GB of memory inside in addition to whatever is loaded into the microSD slot. The 2-megapixel camera phone debuts at Verizon shops in July.

The Decoy, a more conventional slider device revolving around a detachable Bluetooth earpiece that offers hands-free calling without forcing the user to buy or keep a separate device. The phone comes with a 2-megapixel camera and is due to ship the earliest of the phone trio on June 16th.
