Google’s Android is one of the best in the world and there are many people wondering if it will monopolize the market in the years that will come. This is because Google tend to monopolize every market they step their foot into. Android is a great operating system already and this is why the concern that will have Android phones all over the place in the next years.
Google is and has always been a fan of the open source programs. The large revenues come from the ads placed and not the fees and prices they ask for their services. The Android operating system is in the range of open source too as it is compatible with just about everything. There are literally thousands of applications you can use with an Android phone and this is why many people prefer these cell phones over others.

Computing becomes mobile and this trend will never stop until all the computers will be mobile. Therefore, Google Android phones are maybe the closest phones to a PC. This is thanks to the large number of applications supported by the Android operating system.
The smart move is that Google created the open source system and all the other manufacturers can use it for developing their applications. This way all the desired Google programs will be incorporated in the mobile OS and Google will only have to win. This is because people will prefer cell phones with a lot of available applications for free than cell phones with lesser applications.
There are many people wondering if Google try to step a foot in the hardware market too. It is true that Nexus One is the first cell phone developed by Google and it uses the Android OS. However, it is highly unlikely that they want to monopolize the cell phone market as the Android application is available for a lot of other phones too.
Google is a great business model that should be followed by other software creators in the world. It is based on open source programs and this is why it has a very high success rate in the world.
However, the Android operating system is not destined to bring Google in the mobile phone market. It is simply for entering the mobile computing market. It is a known fact that the latest trend in the world is mobile computing and they want to make sure they are part of this trend too.
When it comes to advertising as well as operating systems, you can say that Google Android is one of the best on the market today. Being present in many types of cell phones, the Google Android is on the verge of becoming the most popular one. There is only one step from being very popular to monopolize the market. Therefore, we can say that Android OS is not far away from monopolizing the mobile phones.

When the Motorola DROID was released to the market, it set the bar a notch higher for Android devices, justifying the advanced devices that have been released since then. The Newest addition to the DROID family is the DROID 2, which, even though it doesn’t outsmart the original DROID, the features packed gives it a run for its money for sure.
Hardware
The design of this new device is more or less like the original DROID with slight noticeable changes here and there. It features a plastic chrome trim around its display, it lacks the weird chin that most people complained about on the original DROID, and towards the bottom there it has retained the little lip. At the back it has a soft-touch plastic finish. The 3.7-inch, 854 x 480 display device is crispy and very clear and features 4 touch-sensitive buttons below – the Home, Back, Menu, and Search. The DROID 2 is one of the few solid phones we have around and doesn’t have any wiggling or creaking as is common with standard phones.
Keyboard
While the original DROID had issues with the flat keyboard that featured two blank keys on either side plus the d-pad, the DROID 2 keyboard is one of its kind in that it is domed, has advanced keyboards (the HTC Touch Pro2), and in place of the d-pad there are the directional keys.

Software
This device runs on 2.2. Froyo with the standard Motorola skin seen on the DROID X. Rest assured that this phone was the first one in the market to run the Android 2.2. Hence when you buy it you shouldn’t expect any updates whatsoever for your phone. Apart from additional features that Froyo has introduced to the table, all else is the same as the DROID X in terms of software. There are additional third-party applications in this phone such as the Kindle, Blockbuster, QuickOffice, and NFS Shift.
Considering the abovementioned features and applications, it is politically correct to say that the DROID 2 is the true successor of the original DROID but more advanced seeing as it is the keyboard is more user-friendly and the phone responds very fast thanks to the 1GHz processor. For all Android fans out there that are in search of a physical keyboard on their Verizon Wireless mobile phones, look no further beyond the DROID 2 mobile phone.
